A New Corporate Culture
After a structural reorganization that separated Daimler’s two largest divisions, Daimler Truck was looking for a way to swiftly and effectively embed its new corporate culture. The company wanted to bridge the gap between the existing Daimler culture and the new Daimler Truck culture, activate leaders globally, and ensure the measurability of initiatives.

In this context, DTR0CKs was born—an initiative of Macaw and Daimler Truck Academy. DTR0CKs is a dynamic and accessible platform for leadership training and development. Through this platform, Daimler Truck aims to inspire, connect, inform, and empower its people worldwide to become the best leaders.

DTR0CKs – Built on Microsoft Power Apps
To bring DTR0CKs to life within its existing Microsoft environment, Daimler Truck sought a partner to develop the app with a range of unique features. Macaw was selected for its experience in Power App projects for leading enterprise clients and its expertise in the Power Platform.
The app needed to meet several requirements: it had to be a user-friendly digital platform for thousands of leaders across five different time zones, with an efficient, modern, and flexible structure.
To achieve this, the Macaw team utilized Power Apps, specifically “Dataverse for Teams”—fully integrated with Microsoft Teams, but without additional licensing costs, as this feature was already included in the company’s existing MS365 licenses.
Key Features of DTR0CKs:
- With a thoughtfully designed user interface (UI) within the Power App, Macaw made the user experience personal.
- The app includes two access types: one for participating leaders and one for facilitators and coaches from a partner who introduced the concept. Through this channel, they could provide professional live support while leaders carried out tasks during the project’s workshop phase.
- To allow users to ask questions and continually improve the solution, Macaw also created a simple feedback channel via Microsoft Teams.
An Award-Winning Power App
The DTR0CKs Power App became a resounding success for Daimler Truck. It is now a program that can be ran digitally in a simple, fully self-determined way by logging into Teams. All workshops and training, as well as communication channels for questions and consultation, are available to all leaders globally. Additionally, the digital learning experiences are insightful and easily measurable.
In 2023, the initiative was honored with an EFMD Excellence in Practice Silver Award for its impact on corporate culture. DTR0CKs provides leaders with an effective tool to embrace the new corporate culture, strengthen their leadership, and contribute to the company’s success.
The DTR0CKs initiative has shown Daimler Truck Academy how to leverage Microsoft Teams as a tool for an advanced employee experience. Additionally, the management team now has better insights into the usage of the digital infrastructure within Daimler Truck.
